Frequently Asked Questions
Is S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center a brick and mortar facility?Yes, we're located at 1584 Wilson Avenue in Lakemore, Ohio - the former Lakemore elementary School. We have 16 classrooms, a computer lab, a physical cognitive skills training room, and an external playground on five acres of land.
Is the Ohio Autism Scholarship accepted at S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center?Yes, S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center is an approved, registered State of Ohio Autism Scholarship provider. The program allows the Ohio Department of Education to pay a scholarship to the parents of a qualified child with autism. Through the Ohio Autism Scholarship program, parents have a choice of seeking services for their child with a registered private provider such as S.U.P.E.R., rather than the child's resident school district, to receive the services outlined in the child's individualized education program (IEP).
How will I know if S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center is right for my child? There's no better way than by visiting us for a tour and seeing what we're all about in person. There are certain situations when S.U.P.E.R. is not right for a family, but this is typically due to a life situation such as the distance of travel or due to a student's physical or behavioral circumstances. Parents who are skeptical before stepping foot in our center, often become believers once they take a tour and see us in action.
How will I pay for my child's education at S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center? We are an Ohio Autism Scholarship provider. If your child qualifies through the Ohio Autism Scholarship program, the Ohio Department of Education will pay you a scholarship for your child to attend S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center. If not, contact us to discuss payment options. There are also several private companies that provide scholarship monies. No matter your financial situation, we're very flexible and will work with you. No child has been turned away from S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center.
What if my child is unable to come to S.U.P.E.R Learning Center because of her physical disability?Though S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center is not designated as a handicapped accessible learning center, we take great pride in the fact that we have provided academic and socialization assistance to several students with physical disabilities. One student with cerebral palsy couldn't physically attend classes at our center. So we went to her, tutoring her in her parents' garage so she could benefit from our unique approach. This girl is now functioning in society working at a library and helping tutor others with special physical and learning needs.
My child was bullied at a previous school. How will I know my child won't be bullied at S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center?Bullying is a serious form of abuse; and something we don't tolerate at S.U.P.E.R. Learning Center. In fact, we are a haven for students who have been bullied at other schools and we take every step possible to make sure bullying does not occur in our school. What makes S.U.P.E.R Learning Center special is the fact that we celebrate the differences and unique abilities of our students. Instead of being bullied, your child will be celebrated for his or her differences.
